On September 29, a Russian missile strike in Dnipro, Ukraine, wiped out his family.
A world collapsed for Krym. The attack on a residential district of the Ukrainian city of Dnipro destroyed several houses and killed multiple people. Grandmother Alla, mother Natasha, daughter Vasylisa (12), son Ivan (8), and the young dog Jack all died in the explosion of their home.
Only the dog Krym survived, found in shock on top of the ruins of his former house by the first rescuers on the scene.
Injured with multiple contusions, Krym was taken to a veterinarian where he received first aid.
The touching images of Krym waiting for his family — who would never return — went around the world, and several artists sought to depict Krym’s grief, lost in hope of being reunited with his loved ones.
His young owners Vasylisa and Ivan, along with his companion Jack, did not survive the bombing.
The mayor of Dnipro paid a visit to Krym. Unfortunately, Krym passed away in November 2022.
